Michael Heseltine urges Lib Dem vote at national event co-facilitated by Monica Harding.

At Wednesday’s press conference and Q&A co-facilitated by Esher and Walton Parliamentary candidate Monica Harding, the Conservative peer appealed to voters to place “national interest” above traditional party loyalties. Remaining in the EU would he insisted enable us to

“collectively exercise an influence in the century that is unfolding, way above anything that we as nation states could do on our own”.

Sitting alongside Lib Dem converts Chuka Umunna and Sam Gyimah during the Q&A, Heseltine resisted Harding’s invitation to question the veracity of Boris Johnson’s optimistic Brexit timeline claims. He did however acknowledge them as one of the “more extreme and unreliable” claims of the election.

Heseltine said he did not believe a vote for the Liberal Democrats could result in a Labour win, saying there was ‘no way’ Corbyn would reach number 10.
