NOISE FROM HEATHROW!

The impact of noise from Heathrow is felt across our community in Elmbridge. Late night, long-haul departures regularly fly over the northern part of the borough. And, when the wind direction means that the airport switches its usual flight pattern to easterly operations - as it did for the best part of a month during the recent spell of hot weather - we are blighted throughout the day with noise from both departing planes turning into their flight paths in the north and arrivals flying over the southern part of the borough to join the queue to land from the west.

Recently, Heathrow launched its Noise Action Plan consultation, calling for the local community's views on its proposals to help reduce noise coming from the airport. Please take a look at this and let them know your views on the proposals, which include a new sound insulation scheme and changes to restrictions on night flights.

Heathrow suggests that their new sound insulation scheme will cover 20,000 people and pay for 100% of the cost of insulating their homes against aircraft noise but has not released the exact area that will be prioritised for this scheme. The airport is also proposing a temporary ban on flights from 12 am to 4:30 am.

So, please take a look and reply to the consultation before it closes on 17th July:
